Folios 301-303. Memorandum from William Wickham, magistrate of the Public Office, Whitechapel, reporting that, on enquiry, the grounds for the suspicions in the annexed letter were slight and that he had received instructions not to instigate a search. Annexed is a letter dated 27 May to the Home Secretary from Major Watkin Williams of the Shropshire Militia at Stratford, Essex, informing that James Mocher, a plumber and glazier of Hackney, Middlesex, had told one of the regiment's sergeants of a large old house in Hackney, formerly called the Wilderness and now known as the College, where a cartload of ammunition had last week been stored in the cellars.
