Folios 241-248. Letter [folios 241 and 246] to Evan Nepean, Under-Secretary, Home Office, from Francis Freeling of the Post Office, enclosing a packet [wanting] from his friend Symons of Bristol and other pieces of correspondence of likely interest to Nepean. Enclosed is a letter [folios 244-245] of 20 May [to Freeling] from Edwards, his Edinburgh correspondent, reporting the arrests of a jeweller and a smith on a charge of high treason, and the fact that the Sheriff of Renfrewshire, searching the homes of Jacobin suspects in Glasgow and Paisley, had found no weapons. Also enclosed is a letter [folios 247-248] to Freeling from P Deck, postmaster of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, who, having seen from the newspapers that a man named Roussel had been arrested for sedition, reported that a man of that name had lived in Bury for 2 years as a French teacher and fencing master and had consorted with local democrats. Deck enclosed an unclaimed letter [folios 242-243] of 26 April in French addressed to Mr Roussel from J de Roffe at London, surprised at not hearing from him and threatening to go to law if he does not immediately pay him the £30 which he owes.
