Description

Correspondence received from Government Offices on subjects concerning Trinidad. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

  • Admiralty (Mines Regulations Ordinance, Petroleum Properties of Trinidad Limited, transfer of concession of Oil Exploration Company of Canada, floating dock regulations and tariff, establishment of oil fuel depots at Chacachacare, land regulations);
  • Emigration Agency (Assistant, charges against Mr Bolton, enquiry into dispute with Mr Bolton, Marsden v Bolton, relations with Mr Bolton, land for new agency premises, supply of emigrants, recruiting of migrants, recruiting of labourers, recruiting of migrants, leave of Mr Bolton, berthing of migrants, report of the Protector of Emigrants 1909, Mr Bolton's house allowance, recruitment of labourers from Madras, agency accounts 1909-10, agency expenses);
  • Crown Agents (dock, floating dock conveyance of 'coolie' emigrants, railway extension, General Petroleum Properties Limited, loan, British and Foreign Oil and Rubber Trust Limited, berthing of migrants on emigrant vessels, construction staff for railway extensions, District Engineer, oil licences, Oropouche Lagoon, oil prospecting licences, licence to the Asiatic Petroleum Company);
  • Home Office (mining regulations);
  • India Office (charges against Mr Bolton, carriage allowance of Emigrant Agency, recruiting of 'coolies' at Madras, agreement with Burma Oil Company);
  • Houses of Parliament (statutory limitation of wages);
  • Board of Trade (Customs Tariff Ordinance);
  • Treasury (withdrawal and cancellation of soiled notes);
  • War Office (military lands and buildings in Tobago, preservation of places of historic interest, Staff Office Local Forces).
