Description

Correspondence from 'Miscellaneous Offices' (Government Departments and other organisations) and Individuals on matters relating to Trinidad. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Miscellaneous Offices:

  • Nightingale Fund (testimonial for Mrs Roberts);
  • General Post Office (question of establishment of direct money order exchange with India, wireless telegraphy, method of accounting for receipts from postage and revenue stamps, direct money order exchange with Canada);
  • New Trinidad Lake Asphalt Company Limited (concession guarantee fund India 3% stock, pitch lands, pitch lands at La Brea, pitch digging at La Brea, damage to Crown land);
  • State Fire Insurance Company Limited (fire insurance contribution);
  • Colonial Office (transfer of Government schools to religious denominations, pitch digging at La Brea);
  • Oddfellows Offices, Manchester (addresses on death of Queen Victoria and accession of Edward VII received from lodges in Trinidad and Jamaica);
  • London School of Tropical Medicine (certificates to students);
  • West India Committee (suggests introduction of 3000 Indian migrants, enquires basis of contribution to be required from planters towards return passages of Indian migrants; objection to proposal concerning contribution towards return passages);
