Description

Correspondence from 'Offices' (Government Departments) on matters relating to Trinidad. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

  • Admiralty (wireless telegraphy and submarine cable, inclusion of the crews of HMS Pallas and HMS Psyche in the Trinidad census, use of Port of Spain harbour by Venezuelan warships);
  • Crown Agents (Port of Spain harbour works, Port of Spain sewerage system, Couva Water Works, foreman platelayer for railway, financial position of colony, Port of Spain Water Works, wireless telegraphy, barrel of coals sent for opinion of director of Museum of Practical Geology, Diego Martin pumping station );
  • Emigration Agent, Calcutta (work of agency, leper emigrants, opinion on working of combined agency, jetty attached to agency premises, prohibition of recruitment in India by district magistrates, recommends Mr R P Gibbes as assistant, Mr Gibbes' certificate of having passed examination in Hindustani, prohibition of recruitment by magistrate of Chanda District, Mr Gibbes' appointment and acceptance, application for leave, selection of emigrants, form of agreement for intending emigrants, recruiting in Saharanpur District);
