Description

Despatches from acting Governor Sir C C Knollys and Governor Sir C A Maloney (November to December 1900), together with correspondence from Crown Agents, Emigration Agent, Privy Council, Board of Trade, India Office and Treasury sent during the course of the year. Governors' despatches are described at item level, correspondence from Government departments is not, and correspondents and subjects are as follows:

  • Crown Agents (wireless telegraphy, stranding of the Indian immigrant ship Bann, Savings Bank investments, ironwork for Leper Hospital, return of Indian immigrants on the Arno, junior assistant engineer C T L Bristow, loans under Colonial Loans Act 1899, Mr L V Sneddon, honorarium to F A Lodge, obsolete Tobago stamps postcards and envelopes and Trinidad postcards, death of scholar B P Ghose, conveyance of Indian immigrants, scholarships, Indian famine fund, map of Tobago, appointment of additional foreman at Port of Spain sewerage works, assistant engineer for sewerage works, Pitch Lake guarantee fund, Port of Spain harbour works, sergeant instructor to local forces D Young, loan expenditure, hospital accommodation on migrant ship Bann, surplus funds investments)
  • Emigration Agent, Calcutta (salary etc., application for an assistant, assistant in office, complaints against agency, accounts of Emigration Agency for 1898-9 and 1899-1900)
  • Privy Council Office (Bennicourt v. Le Gendre and others)
  • Board of Trade (stranding of the Indian migrant ship Bann, Electric Lighting and Tramways Ordinance 1900)
  • India Office (mango plants from India, mango grafts, hospital accommodation on Indian migrant ship Bann, plague on Indian immigrant ships, Emigration Ordinance No. 19 of 1899, apparatus 1 Extincteur)
  • Treasury (loan of £110,000 under Colonial Loans Act 1899, West Indian mail service)
