Description

Letters from various government offices (departments) most of which relate to the despatches sent from the governor in CO 295/351 - CO 295/358. Correspondents and subjects covered are as follows:

  • House of Commons (Venezuelan tariff, harbour improvements, railway enquiry commission);
  • Crown Agents (Port of Spain harbour works, printed copies of proposed harbour works and iron jetty, H H Morton's wish to study music in Germany, Chaguaramas Bay scheme, investment on behalf of Blanche Blanc, W Brown's scholarship allowance, Pitch Lake case, collection of railway tickets, pins for maxim guns, sale of Crown Lands in Tobago, Attorney General v Eriche and Phillips, investment of colonial funds, loan for railway extension and Public Works, consulting and resident engineers for government railways, superannuation of school teachers, appointment of an architectural draughtsman, Inspector A D P Owen's family remittance, application of H R Marwood as maintenance engineer on railways, coupling system on railways, court trust funds account, appointment of director of works, screw tug for harbour works, Pitch Lake case, hopper barges for harbour works, gulf streamers depreciation fund);
