Description

Letters from various government offices (departments) and individuals most of which relate to the despatches sent from the governor in CO 295/327 - CO 295/330. Correspondents and subjects covered are as follows:

Offices (Government Departments):

  • Admiralty (affairs in Tobago, appointment of W O Spence as Customs Officer and Drill Instructor);
  • Crown Agents (payment of £10,000 by Previté & Co for Pitch Lake lease, [Tobago] disposal of stock held by Encumbered Estates Commissioners, appointment of Inspector of Schools, Port of Spain harbour improvement scheme, case of Pollard v Harragin, appointment of Secretary of Public Works & Road Loan Board H E W Grant);
  • Council Office ([Tobago] R B Anderson's petition, [Tobago] petitions regarding the administration of justice);
  • Board of Trade (export duties, F J Macleod's services to the crew of Ali, incorporation of associations not for trade);
  • Treasury (D Casey's pension, pensions of men transferred from the Royal Irish Constabulary);
