Letters from various offices (government departments and other organisations) and individuals on subjects concerning Trinidad.

Offices:

  • Crown Agents (appointment of O Barrett to the Railway Department, payment of amount due to the French Post Office for 1881-2, engagement of foreman for water and sewerage works, Trinidad water works debentures purchased by British Guiana, endorsement of certain colonial debentures);
  • Board of Trade (Merchant Shipping Ordinance);
  • Foreign Office (export of arms to Venezuela, proposed cession of Patos Island to Venezuela, violation of British territory at Patos Island by Venezuela, Venezuelan differential duties against Trinidad, seizure of British vessels by Venezuela government at Maturin, imprisonment in Venezuela of crews of the British vessels Josephine and Henrietta);
  • War Office (allowances to troops in lieu of customs exemptions);
