Description

Letters from various offices (government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters related to Trinidad. Correspondents and subjects are as follows.

Offices:

  • Crown Agents (Paris Exhibition payment, conduct of Mr Cadiz, public buildings debentures, tram road debentures, lecture and residence certificates for Henry C Bowen and T R Cadiz, sewerage debentures, J N Rat's allowance);
  • Foreign Office (Venezuelan claim to Patos Island, appointment of O Allen as United States Consul, removal of Henry Besson and his sister Maria from France);
  • Land Board (draft ordinance for appointment of a surveyor general, disposal of Crown Lands);
  • General Post Office (rates of postage charged on letters sent by French mail packets);
  • European Assurance Society (Receiver General Russell's bond);
  • Treasury (expenditure for Roman Catholic priest's rectory and house, Governor Gordon's passage allowance, account of investments on sinking fund, botanist's lodging allowance, allowance for acting cashier to the receiver general, audit queries on accounts of 1865, Rev H Taaffe's pension claim, proposed reconstruction of the Medical Department, assistant harbour master's salary, supplementary estimates for 1866, Appropriation Ordinance, Treasury cashier's allowance, Escheated Property Ordinance, Mr Murray's pension application, increase of Police Force, expenditure for additional accommodation in the Royal Gaol, Public Works expenditure);
