Description

Letters from various offices (government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters related to Trinidad. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • Admiralty (passages for colonial officers and their families, protection to fisheries, unsatisfactory performance of the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company);
  • Crown Agent (Colonial Secretary Johnston's salary, lead pipes for water works, outstanding claims, delay in forwarding a chart of Paria, former Chief Justice Scotland's complaint against pension deductions, no remittance received on account of the heirs of Jean Descovich, instructions for new Post Office, shipment of lead, medicine, bedding, brass labels for Post Office letter bags, Warburgh's tincture, postage stamps, and linen sheets);
  • Board of Trade (confirmation of Ordinance No 11);
  • Foreign Office (transmission of judicial documents, need for verification of signature on Joseph Gaudier's death certificate, protection against encroachment of American fishermen in the gulf of Paria, enquiry regarding J J Rivals de La Lévèze, property of Jean Descovich);
