Papers that were retained in the Private Office of the Parliamentary Secretary (National Insurance) and not placed on registered files, concerning national assistance, national insurance and family allowances, pension schemes and benefits.

Consists of:

• PIN 70, Private Office papers of the joint parliamentary secretary (national insurance), mainly relating to parliamentary bills.
• PIN 87, Petition Case files, mainly concerning rates of benefit and pensions payable, the administration and policy development of various social security benefits and individuals' benefit entitlements.
• PIN 92, Ministers' papers, mainly concerning policy development and implementation.

No records are held in series PIN 85 (Private Office: Correspondence Files).
