Description

Offices and individuals. Letters received from various government offices (departments), other organisations and individuals relating to Jamaica. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • Board of Trade (H W Hixon's application to prospect for oil on the Cayman Islands, four items concerning the establishment of a lighthouse at Morant Cays, the Jamaican Marine Board, the provision of adequate life boat accommodation, the establishment of fuel oil installation, provision of life boat accommodation for vessels carrying Indian immigrants, application of United Fruit Company for permission to erect an oil bunkering installation at Kingston)
  • Treasury (Appointment of H E Dale to advise on financial policy, bonuses for locally engaged civilian employees of the War Department)
  • War Office (provision of lands required for military purposes, the Package Tax Law of 1919)
  • Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (Arghan Fibre [enclosed Journal of the Royal Society of Arts, November 1922])
