Description

Letters from 'offices' (Government departments and organisations) on matters relating to Jamaica. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

  • Home Office (import of opium, case of C Anthony, import of opium for 1921, import and export of drugs, E H Bell's certificate of naturalisation, A Issa's certificate of naturalisation);
  • Medical Adviser (medical report on Dr Bernard C W Pasco, medical report on R E Noble, medical report on A M Thomas);
  • Parliament (cost of living report, garrison numbers, pay and allowances for penitentiary staff, Bill to prevent publication of incorrect reports, complaints against Government policy);
  • Board of Trade (application of Mrs L Lee for assistance, transportation of prisoners of war to Canada, lighthouse at Morant cays, treatment of certain Jamaicans by the captain of the USS Middlebury, imposition of landing tax, Canadian-West Indian trade agreement, claim of John Alexander Daley, lubricating oils tariff, harbour fees and light dues exemption law);
