Description

Correspondence received from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) on subjects concerning Jamaica. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

  • Admiralty (Legislative Council and the proposed appointment of Commodore, Port Royal Law 1900, visit of warship to the Cayman Islands);
  • Crown Agents (conveyance of Indian immigrants, appointment of T A E Gibbons as Sergeant Instructor of the Kingston Artillery Militia, locomotive boilers, Railway requisition for engines and carriages and the issue of inscribed stock, sinking fund investments, sinking fund securities, direct steamer service with the United Kingdom, supply of law books, Constabulary clothing and equipment, new issue of postage stamps for the Cayman Islands, Transvaal War Fund, transfer of stock, Railway Transfer Bill, Indian immigration, account with the Colonial Government, pension of C Goldie, loan of £105,000 under the Colonial Loans Act 1899, additional signalling facilities in the West Indies, the establishment of a light house on Sand Cay, Railway Indemnity to Trustees for bondholders and to Gibbs & Company, Kingston Improvements Redemption Fund, Railway and future management, Princes Wharf, financial position, delay in the supply of goods [bicycle badges enclosed], emigration to other colonies, Debenture Bonds under Law 28 of 1899, mail service contribution, advance under the Deficit Loan Law, requisitions from the Colonial Government, account with the Colony, Railway freight cars and rolling stock, Indian emigration ships, Railway Foreman for the locomotive running shed, Railway Maintenance Engineer and Locomotive Superintendent, resignation of Dr Hobbs, Constabulary Officer's uniform, delay in the supply of steel and ironwork, concrete pipes for road drainage, Railway passenger carriages);
