Description

Correspondence received from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and from individuals on subjects concerning Jamaica. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • House of Commons (post of President of the Legislative Council, relations between the Governor and officials, typhoid fever at Turks Island, cost of the railways);
  • Admiralty (water supply of Port Royal, ownership of the Rosalind Bank and Baxo Nuevo);
  • Crown Agents (constabulary pension fund, pension fund for prison service, Turks Island and surety bond of Mr Cameron the Acting Commissioner, appeal to the Privy Council of the West India Improvement Company, appointment of the draughtsman for the Public Works Department, transfer to Savings Bank Account of certain stock, scholarship for Mr H J C Brown);
  • Board of Trade (employment of Major Yorke to report on the railway, quarantine on the Crown Prince, inspection of lighthouse at Grand Turk);
