Public Hospital and Lunatic Asylum Commission, Evidence, part 2.
Further detailed evidence heard by Commission: Hon. Robert Hamilton, Hon. Alan Ker, Hon. Alexander Gordon Fyfe. Charges brought by Dr. Lewis Quier Bowerbank against Public Hospital and Lunatic Asylum, allegations include: mismanagement, ill-trained staff, poor sanitary conditions, over crowding, mal-treatment of patients. Evidence given by variety of staff, including Rev. Duncan Campbell, Rector of Kingston, he gained unfavourable view of institution whilst working there; John Gibb, surgeon and neighbour to asylum comments on poor sanitary conditions, including the non-removal of bodies from the 'dead house'.
