Correspondence from the bishop of Jamaica, Christopher Lipscomb, to the secretary of state mainly concerning ecclesiastical matters such as the appointment, conduct and resignation of members of the clergy, and renovations to the bishop's residence. Also includes correspondence relating to:
- A choral service developed by the rector of St Ann, with printed pamphlet consisting of an introduction and musical scores
- Progress in seeking funding for a new place of worship in Kingston
- Conduct of missionaries
- Form of licenses granted to dissenting ministers
- Appointment of teachers 'for the instruction of the negroes'
- Applications from the parishes of Portland and St Mary for financial assistance from the British Government for the erection of two places of worship; with plans and specifications
- Extract from Parliamentary Paper 'respecting the Religious Instruction of the Slaves in the West Indies', 1827
