All information which has been received regarding case of the deportation of two 'free men of colour' named Lecesne and Escoffery (from St Domingo), in October 1823, with related proceedings and copies of affidavits filed in the Grand Court.
Lecesne and Escoffery 'aliens of a dangerous description' were suspected of hosting meetings of the 'Masonic Society' in Kingston, 'under the order of a Masonry which could not possibly exist as Masonic Lodges were acknowledged by the General Lodge of England'. Witnesses claimed that other people 'persons of colour of French extraction' visited them there and discussed matters concerning St Domingo.
