Sends a report concerning the refusal of 'self-imprisoned' South African prisoners of war to accept the offer of Captain van der Sande Lacoste, of the Dutch warship de Ruyter, to take them to New York. Reports dismissing seven from the camp and hoped this would have a good effect on those who remained. Explains that 'the present attitude of the late prisoners is to remain sullenly inactive until the British Government sends them back to South Africa without requiring any promise of allegiance'.
