The prisoner pledged the plate with Hyam Lewis, a pawnbroker for 40/-. The prisoner's wife was housekeeper to Millard. Grounds for clemency: previous good character, supported his mother, wife and children, had intended to redeem the goods before the prosecutor returned (which he would have been able to do). Initial sentence: death, commuted to transportation for life. Recommendation: 12 months imprisonment in the house of correction. Folios 340-343.
