1 individual petition (the prisoner) and 1 collective petition (3 people, vicar and 2 churchwardens of Plymouth, Devon) on behalf of Walter Lemon, rigger at Plymouth dockyard and able seaman, convicted at the Exeter Assizes Devon, in March 1806, for the theft of a rudder brace 'made of mix'd Metal' from Plymouth Dockyard. Also includes a letter from Robert Hawkins. Grounds for clemency: previous good character, has a wife and children to support, wishes to join HM Navy, has previously served 12 years in HM Navy under Admirals Howe, Duncan, Mitchell and Nelson (prisoners service record is included giving dates and ships served, the prisoner also seeing action on 1st June 1794 and destroying the Danish fleet at Copenhagen in 1802) and has been wounded in the service of his country, has a wife and children now in poverty, mercy has been extended to others whose crimes were more 'aggravated in nature', is willing to serve as a seaman. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Folios 319-323.
