Letter from John Sargent of the Audit office to William Baldwin on the case of John Hopson/ John Ropson, convicted [crime not given] at the Sussex Easter Sessions [Sussex Quarter Sessions] held at Midhurst in 1809. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Lord Liverpool had recommended the case for a pardon. Sargent asks whether this has been granted as the prisoner is still on the hulks at Portsmouth. Folio 224.
