Report of Soulden Lawrence on 2 collective petitions (19 people of Crompton, Lancashire and 3 tradesmen of Manchester) on behalf of John Richardson [named as John Pott by Lawrence in his report, John Richardson in the petitions] (tried with James Medin), and convicted at the Lancashire Lent Assizes in 1809, for uttering forged Bank of England notes knowing them to be so. Grounds for clemency: led into the crime by 'bad Men who sell Bank Notes at a low rate', has a wife and six children to support. Initial sentence: death. Recommendation: no mercy. Folios 202-206.
