Report of Robert Graham on 1 collective petition (13 people of Sedgley [near Dudley] Staffordshire, including the prosecutor, churchwardens and farmers) on behalf of James Richards, blacksmith, and Benjamin Granger, coal miner, convicted at the Staffordshire Assizes in July 1807, for horse stealing, property of Richard Ward, carpenter, on 18 May 1807. Evidences supplied by Richard Ward and Thomas Causer. Grounds for clemency: Richards: has a wife and child to support; Granger: has been injured in a coal pit and is lame and infirm. Initial sentence: death. Recommendation: respite at in the King's pleasure. Folios 186-189.
