Report of Alan Chambre on 1 collective petition (8 people, comprising the visiting magistrate of Worcester Gaol, the prosecutor and Worcestershire farmers) on behalf of John Marshall/John Marshal, convicted at the Worcestershire Lent Assizes for stealing a horse, property of George Ervins, farmer on 10 October 1808. Evidences supplied by William Alcock, prosecutor's servant and John Bushell. Grounds for clemency: previous good character, contrite, has behaved well in prison and this is his first offence. Initial sentence: death, respited to 7 years transportation. Recommendation: none given. Folios 99-102.
