Description

Report of James Balguy/James Baulgy on 1 individual petition (John Oakes, labourer, the prisoner's husband) and 1 collective petition (8 people, from Melbourne, Derbyshire) on behalf of Susannah Oakes, convicted at the Nottingham Michaelmas Quarter Sessions in 1808, for the theft of 2 loaves of bread and 2 baking tins, property of ------ Wilson. Grounds for clemency: the prisoner has 12 children dependent on her, is innocent being duped into (unintentionally) committing the crime by Mary Flinders. Initial sentence: transportation. Recommendation: none given. Folios 78-82.
