Report of Robert Graham on 1 collective petition (12 people, comprising the prisoner's father, from Stapleton, and the churchwardens of the parish of St Philip, Gloucestershire) on behalf of James Porter, coal miner, parish of St Philip and St Jacob, convicted at the Gloucestershire Lent Assizes (in the petition it states the City of Gloucester Assize), for a burglary against Giles Peachy, shopkeeper, on 2 November 1807. A letter from the Earl of Beaufort is also included. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Grounds for clemency: previous good character, he was induced into the crime by 4 or 5 'idle boys' who are now in HM Navy. Recommendation: none made. Folios 59-63.
