Letter to the Home Office from 'A Loyal Subject' at Weymouth, Dorset, with information of a man's arrival at night at the home of Thomas Martin, a man with strong connections to Guernsey and Jersey. Martin had taken the man straight to Portland where he had embarked in a vessel belonging to a noted smuggler John Way alias Bagwell. Since the boat's return, conflicting rumours have circulated as to whether the destination was Guernsey or France.
