Folio 285. Letter to Colonel John Rolle [MP for Devon] from G W Carrington, Home Office clerk, letting him know that others in his predicament are negotiating for a half-pension to be payable to a surviving wife, and asking that Rolle should support his entitlement to such a benefit if it is unavoidable that he should lose his office. Rolle's hasty endorsement of the request is written at the foot of the letter and returned to Henry Dundas, the Home Secretary.
