Description
Petitioners
John de Wyndsore (Windsor).
Name(s)
de Wyndsore (Windsor), John
Addressees
Council.
Places mentioned
Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Nature of request
[The petition is largely illegible throughout its central sections, so that the full details are not recoverable]. The petitioner [?] complains that he has been disseised of [...] by a certain cause, and requests that [...] as the law demands, and also ordain that no other lands and tenements of the petitioner are seized by allegation [...] without due process and reasonable cause, and that the petitioner is able to be treated according to the laws of the land [...].
Nature of endorsement
They should make the barons of the Exchequer send for the parties, and call the justices, and according to their advice do full right according to the law.
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1385 because it seems likely that the petition refers to castle and manor of Manorbier in Pembrokeshire as an entry concerning the removal of the king's hand from it can be found on the close rolls dating to 30 May 1385, though mention is made to the petitioner (CCR 1385-9, p. 549). The petitioner does appear in another entry in the close rolls concerning the restoration of goods that were William de Windsor's in an entry in close proximity to the entry concerning Manorbier (CCR 1385-9, p. 550).
