Nature of request
The canons request that they are able to have the special grace of the king to purchase to their church £20 of land or rent notwithstanding the statute of mortmain. The late bishop and others have devised and given part of their goods to the church to have perpetual remembrances of masses and other benefices, and for the honour of the Trinity and St Richard.
