Nature of request
The prior and convent show and complain that from time out of mind they have been seised of a burgage in Saltash in right of the church, and have, by reason of that burgage, had and used for them and their household and servants. From time out of mind, free passage on the ferry of the boat of Saltash over the River Tamar, paying for the burgage and passage annually 6d to the lords of Trematon for all manner of services and demands and have used the ferry peacefully. Now the canons, servants and tenants are charged and distrained by the mayor and others of Saltash to pay 6d for the passage on diverse occasions contrary to all truth, right and conscience. The petitioners request that the mayor and men be called before the council to answer to the premises, and to set such direction that right is done to the church.
