Nature of request
Robert shows that Menhir has wrongfully, untruly and of pure malice, without cause has sued and troubled the petitioner in the Archbishop of Canterbury's court upon a cause of defamation to the great cost and impoverishment of the petitioner. Robert has made his purgation of the defamation according to the special law in the bishop of Exeter's court , but notwithstanding this, Menhir daily sues and brings down citations of the Archbishop's court against the petitioner insomuch that he may not labour to pay his rent to the prince, nor occupy his tenancy without a convenient remedy provided by the chancellor and commissioners. Robert requests remedy.
