Nature of request
Hunden shows that Byford has wrongfully sued various untrue actions against him in the prince's county of Pembroke, and has process of outlawry against him, intending to cause him to forfeit all the revenues and profits that he has to live upon, for Byford knows cannot labour because of his great age, sickness and impotency. He requests that the prince, by the advice of his council, will grant his letters to be directed to his steward and officers to surcease and respite the process and to make a supersedeas to his officers there to surcease the process of outlawry if any exigent or exigency has been awarded, and the petitioner will abide any award or judgment of the council, or that of any person or persons assigned by the prince or his council.

The petition is dated to 1476-1482 because the petitioner refers to himself as late bishop of Llandaff, and as archdeacon of St David's. Hunden resigned the bishopric on 18 March 1476, and at the same time became archdeacon (Handbook of British Chronology, p. 293; Fasti Ecclesiae Anglicanae 1300-1541, vol. XI, The Welsh Dioceses, p. 60).
