The ap Hopkyns complain that be the high trust and counsel of ap Jenkyn certain evidences of their lands in Trelleck were delivered to the abbot of Tintern to the intent that if Lord Herbert and his mother paid £20 to the petitioners at an appointed day then Lord Herbert and his mother were to have the evidences, and if not, the evidences were to be returned to the petitioners. The payment was not paid by which they required the abbot to deliver the evidences to them, but they cannot get them for dread and fear of ap Jenkyn, Jenkyn desiring to have their lands from them and their heirs by force and against their will, and has occupied a certain parcel by force, and because he could not have another parcel at farm, he has menaced, beaten and imprisoned them, and with the support of Vaughan and others has threatened to disinherit them if they do not agree to their will. They request that the prince and his council ordain a remedy so that their heirs may have their lands after their deaths according to the entail, and that [the abbot] be ordered to deliver their evidences.
