Name(s)
Fouleshurst; Fouleshurst; Huls (Hulse), Thomas; Robert; Thomas
Addressees

Nature of request
Fouleshurst and the others request letters be directed to the keepers of the records of inquisitions commanding them to deliver to them a copy of the inquisition taken by the escheator of Cheshire concerning the lands that Piers Dutton the younger was seised. Piers Dutton the elder gave certain lands in Cheshire to the petitioners of which they were and yet are seised of the same during the life of Eleanor, daughter of Sir Robert Fouleshurst, she now being the wife of Piers Dutton the younger who has been attainted of felony. It was found by inquisition before the escheator that Dutton was seised of the same land and he has now been outlawed, and the petitioners are not able to obtain a copy of the inquisition delivered into the Chancery of Chester so that they can sue their case.

Note
A cover note preceding this petition indicates that the petitions SC 8/344/E1262-E1316B mostly date to the period 1481-1483, and nearly all appear to belong to the period 1471-1483, this latter date being the dates that Edward Plantagenet, Edward IV's eldest son, held the principality of Wales and the county of Chester. This petition is dated to the latter range, 1471-1483 because the guard reference to the Chester Recognizance Rolls provides no evidence that would allow a narrower dating.
