Nature of request
[The petition's legibility is very poor and the full sense is difficult to recover].1) The petitioner refers to his coming to the obedience of the king and to agreements made between him and the seneschal of Gascony and constable of Bordeaux].2) The petitioner requests the grant of the bailliages of Saillans and Juillac.3) The petitioner requests payment of the money due to him for his wages and those of his companions as appears by bills of the constable of Bordeaux.4) The petitioner requests that if the king takes a truce or makes peace with Philip of Valois, that he and all his heirs and companions are put in the truce or peace.
Nature of endorsement
The Vicomte de Fronsac and his [...] and [...].1) Concerning the first request, it is attested that the provost of the Hombriere is obliged to John de Coupale per annum in £300 of Tournois ... 100s sterling from the same farm, the king is not able to consent to the petitioners' request in the manner that he requested it. For which it is assented that the £280 Tournois which remains to be paid for the provost, be assigned to the vicomte to take annually until he has recovered the same. And also are assigned the tenements and rents of the provost of Libourne and the goods of rebels in Libourne and St Emilion [...].2) Concerning the second request, the king is to be informed of the value of what is demanded and if it is able to be done without prejudice of others.3) Concerning the third request the king will send his men to those parts to make payment to him of what is due, and he should have a letter to [...] to pay the first penny that is [...] in the duchy [...] will ordain part of his payment in England.4) Concerning the fourth part [...] it is well that men treat with him to make suitable satisfaction upon the things contained in the composition made between him and the seneschal, and that the composition be confirmed.
