Nature of request
[Petition in four or more parts].1) Balhad states that he resided in Bourg, and when it was taken by the French he lost rents and lands there as is attested by letters under the seal of Gascony by inquisition made by the seneschal and by the king's command, but he had nothing for these losses. With other men of the town and his companions they restored the town to the king's obedience at his own costs. He requests a grant for life of the lands and rents of [...].2) He requests that the king will preserve those that were in the 'prise' from damage by force of lordship.3) He states that whereas he has in the castellany of Blaye four parishes, namely St Androny, Anglade, Eyrans and St Genes in Segonzac. He requests that he is granted high and base lordship in those parishes.4) [This entry is incomplete and missing most of the right-hand side, and much of the lower portion, but refers to wages owed and damages suffered presumably by the petitioner].1)

The petition is dated to c. 1339-c. 1342 on the basis of the reference to the fall of Bourg which fell to the French in 1339, though this petition does refer to its recovery by the petitioner. In addition, the date range is that adopted for two other petitions of the same petitioner (SC 8/93/4621; SC 8/293/14608).
