Nature of request
The petitioner states that he has been long imprisoned in the Fleet prison by the king's command for a heinous allegation that he had done harm to Wynard. On the examination of Wynard on the matter. He and Wynard submitted to make a fine jointly if required but requested that it be the less for diverse considerations:1) That it was believed that Winnard's husband was a man of a notable livelihood, though he had no lands in his possession whereof Elizabeth is endowable beyond the value of £10.2) Although he admits he urged her to take her current husband, it was her will, and he never used unlawful means.3) He states that he did not know where Elizabeth Winnard or her husband were while he was in prison, nor his wife.4) Matter concerning the marriage.5) Concerning the bond, it was never the petitioner's intention or assent that it be sealed by Winnard, and urged her not to seal it.He asks for his great age and the length of his imprisonment at his own cost and loss, and his periodic sickness be considered.
