SC 8/342/16146
Date
[c. 1335-c. 1360]
Description
Petitioners
Reginald de Carteret, lord of St Ouen.
Name(s)
de Carteret, lord of St Ouen, Reginald
Addressees
Places mentioned
St Ouen, [Jersey, Channel Islands]
Jersey Castle, [Channel Islands].
Nature of request
[The petition is damaged, and much of the left-hand side of the petition is illegible]. Carteret requests that regard is had to his damages and hardship, his manor and mill having being destroyed by the enemy, and he having no profit from them, and he has resided in Jersey Castle since the beginning of the war at his own costs, and he requests that it is ordained that he can have something to maintain his estate.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Note
The petition is speculatively dated to c. 1335-c. 1360 on the basis of the hand. There are entries in the patent rolls that seem to refer to the petitioner c. 1342, so that the petition may date more closely to that date (CPR 1340-3, p. 575; CPR 1343-5, p. 91).
