[The petition is cut from a longer series of petitions, and due to some damage not all of the petition is legible].Verdun complains that his father was disseised of a tenement, a water mill, a wind mill and land in Tugby by the Nevilles which he subsequently recovered by an assize of novel disseisin, but the same has been taken into the hand of the king by the escheator because of the outlawry of Peter de Neville.

The petition is dated to 1276 on the basis of entries in the patent, close and fine rolls that are closely related to the petition and all date to around that year, the fine roll entry being perhaps the most relevant and dating to 13 March 1276 (CPR 1272-81, p. 143; CCR 1272-9, p. 222; CFR 1272-1307, p. 67).
