Nature of request
1) Copy of a writ of Edward I to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer stating that it is understood that the executors of Cormaylles, the late sheriff of Somerset and Dorset have sufficient in their hands to satisfy the debts in which the late sheriff was bound to the king at the time of his death, and ordering them to levy the same from the corn and other goods existing in the land and tenements of the late sheriff, but not levying it from the inheritance or dower of his widow as long as the goods of the deceased in the hand of the executors is sufficient.2) By this writ Amicia had writs to the sheriffs of Wiltshire, Hampshire, and Somerset and Dorset, and after they were delivered to the sheriffs, John de Cormaylles, son and heir of the late sheriff and his executors deceived the king's court saying that the goods of Cormaylles in the hand of Calstane, Scrug and Bolimer, executors of the sheriff were not sufficient, and petitioned for a writ of the king of this debt to despoil the corn and other goods of the widow, and all the details of the debts are in the hand of Bolimer and Fanelore.
