The commons state that the sheriffs are charged with levying £157 17s. from farms, sergeanties, and purprestures, and from them, as appears in the pipe of the Exchequer, each sheriff lost before the last pestilence £100, and the counties are not able [...] and how the king, the king's grandfather pardoned many times 100 marks per annum. The commons request that the sum be [? pardoned] perpetually, or reduced as the sheriffs are charged with this on their account.

The petition is dated to c. 1377-c. 1385 as the hand suggests a date of about this time, and the petition refers to the last pestilence, so clearly being an outbreak subsequent to that of 1349, and also there is a reference to the king's grandfather, which is clearly a reference to Edward III.
