Nature of request
[The petition is fragmentary with much of the upper part missing, and the remainder is only partially legible].The abbot and convent complain that their suit has been long delayed, the king having ordered his justices to delay, and afterwards he ordered them to proceed to take the inquisition notwithstanding his previous order, and having taken it they ceased before rendering judgment by virtue of the king's order. The abbot and convent request that the justices be commanded to proceed to judgment based upon the verdict of the inquisition, and do what they ought to do.
