[The petition is damaged so that the name of the petitioner, and a portion of the right-hand side of the document is missing].The petitioner requests the king's aid concerning her husband's chattels, as [...] against the castle of Flint, and the Welsh came and killed them [...] and others of the ship, and afterwards the bailiffs of the same vill [...] the chattels of the same Steven, so that by the official of the king [...] the petitioner nothing by the aid and good of the chattels that were [...].

Note
The petition is speculatively dated to c. 1280-c. 1295 in part on the hand, and in part on the reference to Thomas de Hamelden as the former mayor of Bristol. Although no evidence of Hamelden as mayor of Bristol has been found, he seems to have been a merchant active around 1281-1282 (CPR 1281-92, p. 22; CCR 1279-88, p. 122).
