[This petition is fragmentary and damaged] . . . of God, King of England . . . Roger de Bulkylgh that whereas he . . . Bangor and Erbistock, within the parishes of Maelor Saesneg . . . and 24 . . . of 10s. annually, and in the same vill of Knolton 47 (?) . . . annually, and in the manor of Ellesmere, 24 acres of land by the tenants . . . services, which lands and tenements after the death of the said Roger ought to descend to the heirs . . . according to the laws and customs of those parts. That our lord the king might be pleased, of his grace . . . that the aforesaid tenements might remain to the said Roger and to the heirs engendered of . . . Roger . . . his wife. And if the said Roger should die without an heir engendered of him and . . . then that all the aforesaid tenements might remain to the right heirs of Roger by the . . . customs. And to have this grant in the aforesaid form, for the good will that the said Roger . . . his said wife, the said Roger grants, for himself and his heirs, to render to our lord the king and his heirs . . . named above 4s. annually above the aforesaid rent.
