[This petition is damaged] John Domyngne, merchant of Portugal, and John Franciscus, master of the ship [Saint] Mary of Oporto in Portugal, state that a case arose between them and Roger Hood, merchant of [Lynn], before the Mayor of Sandwich; but that certain officials of the admiralty of Dover castle wished the case to be heard before them, and constrained the petitioners to answer before them, usurping the jurisdiction of the town of Sandwich. They request a writ of Chancery to the Constable of Dover castle and his lieutenant, prohibiting them from interfering in the dispute. They also request an order from Chancery to the Mayor of Sandwich to do justice without delay, as the case has been pronounced before him.

The petition is dated to 1407 as an entry in the close rolls ordering the constable of Dover Castle and warden of the Cinque Ports to certify the king on the prohibition relating to the case outlined in the petition was issued on 11 February 1407, and appears to have been issued in response to this petition (CCR 1405-9, p. 187).
