Description
Petitioners
Randolph (Ralph) de Dacre.
Name(s)
de Dacre, Randolph (Ralph)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
[This petition is damaged] Randolph de Dacre states that the king has leased him by his commission the peel of [High Head] for ten years, but, although these ten years have not passed, the king has given the keeping of the peel to William Lengles for term of life. Randolph asks that this gift might be repealed, and that he might enjoy his term.
Nature of endorsement
Because it appears from an inspection of the king's letters patent, shown before the council, that the king granted the keeping of the peel etc. to the same Randolph, as is claimed in the petition, therefore the aforesaid Randolph is to be ordered that he is [to have] that peel according to the tenor of the commission made to him, notwithstanding the command addressed to him to deliver that peel to the same William; and William is likewise to be ordered not to intermeddle with the aforesaid etc., during the aforesaid term.
Places mentioned
[High Head, Cumberland].
People mentioned
William Lengles (Longleis).
