Description

Ralph de Waddone (Waddon); Sibyl de Waddone (Waddon).
Name(s)
de Waddone (Waddon); de Waddone (Waddon), Ralph; Sibyl
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Ralph de Waddone states that he is in the king's service in Ireland, with Robert de Ufford the justiciar, and that Sibyl his wife is also in Ireland, and requests the king's grace that, because his wife was dowered with the manor of South Pikenham, with the advowson of the church of All Saints there, before he married her, he and Sibyl presented their clerk, Henry de Boytone, to this church, and an inquisition found that they were the true patrons; but a William de Newingham of Norfolk, who claimed to be one of Sibyl's heirs from her first marriage, presented to the church, and acquired a prohibition preventing the Bishop of Norwich from presenting Ralph and Sibyl's presentee, maliciously claiming that Sibyl is dead, although the Bishop of Waterford and other lords in Ireland are prepared to testify that she is alive. Their attorney brought a quare impedit against William, and he defaulted; they have been given another day, and William has essoined himself - and all this is to make the time pass.
